Resource Description:
Simpcw began working on CCP directly with the hire of a local community planner, as part of the Sustainable Resource Department, in the summer of 2007. This commitment by the Simpcw leadership to planning reflects the long history of planning in the First Nation and the desire to lead the process from within the community.
The Community Planner was hired for the purpose to lead the short and long-range land planning, covering a wide range of development proposals, policies and projects for the Simpcw First Nation. This position must use strategic, policy and operational guidance to ensure appropriate planning for positive cultural, economic, social and environmental impacts.
