WHY IS IMPLEMENTATION IMPORTANT?
This is the phase of the project that sees the most benefits going to the community. Depending on the type of agreement reached with the industry proponent, training, jobs, contracting opportunities, and equity payments could begin flowing to the community.
WHAT IS IMPLEMENTATION?
Once the contracts are signed, this is when the project is physically built and begins generating energy. This is typically when the bulk of the project's benefits materialize in terms of training, jobs and contract opportunities. Commissioning is also an important component of this phase. Commissioning involves a series of tests to make sure every aspect of the construction meets project expectations. The key purpose of commissioning is to allow for the transfer of the unit from the constructor to the owner, ensuring its reliable capacity to meet performance and safety standards.
FACTORS TO CONSIDER
- How does the proponent follow through on the project’s construction, commissioning, and operations?
- What are the mechanisms for contract management?
- How is monitoring being conducted at stipulated intervals?
