Nak'azdli Whut'en members in northern BC cast their votes for four open council seats over four months ago. The First Nation has a custom election code that states candidates are not eligible to run for election if they've ever been convicted of an indictable offence. One of the winning candidates has a criminal record, so an appeal was filed. An appeal board must review the evidence and make a decision, and that hasn't happened yet.
