The agreement in principle is closer to a resolution with a deal on a potentially multibillion-dollar settlement for former students of Indian Day Schools. The individual compensation amount has not yet been made public. The agreement does include $200 million for healing, wellness, language, culture and commemoration, and funding for legal fees. The deal still has to go before a judge for a fairness hearing before it's finalized. Individual compensation amounts will be announced after the first of the year.
