Yesterday, I was preparing to go the Victoria, IdleNoMore Rally and March being put on by the Native Student Union of UVIC and the First Nations Student Assocation of Camosun College when these words came to me and I quickly typed them into my Iphone and wanted to share them here...

The term for BC Regional Chief has ended and who will fill the next term is up for grabs in a three-way race between 3 highly competent indigenous women. The candidates are incumbent Jody Wilson-Raybould, Shana Manson and Margery McRae.

 Is he a genius?  Insane?  Over his head?  To be honest, I am really not sure.  On the one hand he has certainly appeared to secure a “soapbox

What is Shared Decision Making? (SDM) The term SDM based on any interpretation means decisions that are made through shared processes. It implies that both parties make the decision with equal power and no one has more authority than the other, just coming to a decision together.
Back to School caused a buzz in the capital from the Opposition parties that the next Omnibus Budget Bill would include a First Nations Education Act.

Enbridge and their Gateway project is one of the most controversial subjects we have seen in a long time in this province. Its implications spread much further than BC, Alberta the sources of the oil, Canada, US and of course Asian markets.

 In my opinion, the so called “leadership debate” on APTN was pretty ho-hum. No fire, no passion, no “OMG, did they really say that” moments. The “debate” was not a real debate, it was a question and answer period. I think this could have been a lot more interesting if the candidates were able to

Who will be the National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) for the next 3 years? That is the question the Chiefs across Canada will be determining next Wednesday July 18th in Toronto.

There is so much going on in Indian country the past week that I really want to comment on some of the things that have been going on. Some weeks are like that, everything happens and your head just spins with all the information. I will keep the subjects to two for this week:
