Canada will not Make UNDRIP Law

Justice minister Jody Wilson-Raybould told the Assembly of First Nations that making the UN Declartion on the Rights of Indigenous People (UNDRIP) into Canadian law was "unworkable" and a "simplistic" approach to replacing the Indian Act. Instead, she says that her government will be developing a home-grown "process of transition that lights a fire under the process of decolonization but does so in a controlled manner."
